McKatsu curry recipe: How to make a katsu curry using only McDonald's ingredients

Jun 30, 2023

A genius by the name of Zef Cherry-Kynaston has created the McKatsu curry, only using ingredients from the McDonald's menu.

We all know Maccy D's does incredible curry sauce, but for some unfathomable reason has never sold curry (at least not in the UK).

So, Zef took matters into his own hands and created his own McKatsu curry using McDonald's ingredients he’d collected and the utensils provided by the fast-food chain.

And he's helpfully shared the recipe on his tumblr account so we can all do it.

Here's how it's done.

Zef decided chicken curry would be the easiest, using the Chicken Legend (hold the mayo).

The tricky bit was the rice. Zef says: ‘I tried chopping french fries up and squeezing out the potato then rolling it up to make rice granule shapes. Looked awful and I got about 1 grain of rice per chip. In the end it was the breakfast menu that saved it.’ Yes, hash browns to the rescue.

Zef collected the hash browns in the morning and scraped out the fluffy innards to make rice. Then, just add some garden salad as a garnish. Simple.

The creative fast food fan says he has more menu hacks in the pipeline but, for now, his ‘lips are sealed’.
